Lake Winnipesaukee
With 183 miles of mainland shoreline, Lake Winnipesaukee offers a wide variety of waterfront homes: from quaint lakeside cottages to luxury homes to new construction. The lakeside cottages, new construction, and luxury homes in Meredith, Alton, Wolfeboro, and Center Harbor see more boating activity and recreation on weekends; while quiet Winnipesaukee waters are more typical of many parts of Moultonborough and Tuftonboro. My listings featured on this page include my 56 Kona Bay Road, Moultonborough Winnipesaukee waterfront, which has 200 feet of Winnipesaukee waterfront, sand beaches, and a six bedroom cottage with 3 fireplaces. The waterfront in this area is perfect for sailing. kayaking, canoeing, and water-skiing. Far from the busy waterfront in the town bays, this Lakes Region NH waterfront property exemplifies why Moultonborough waterfront property is so popular. Enjoy the sun and sunsets from your U-shaped dock at 56 Kona Bay Road.. Located just 5-10 minutes from Moultonborough and Center Harbor restaurants, including, Canoe, A Tavern and Restaurant, The Coe House Restaurant, and The Woodshed. 56 Kona Bay Road is offered at $1,300,000. A back lot of .88 acres is also available and would be perfect for a tennis court or guest house.

My new Cow Island listing is also located in one of the most special parts of Lake Winnipesaukee. It is also featured in the slide show. It has 275 feet of waterfront, 3.96 acres and is offered at $299,900. Tuftonboro's Guernsey (Cow) Island is the second largest non-bridged island of Winnipesaukee's more than 250 islands.
Named "Guernsey" because the first Guernsey cattle in this country were quarantined here, Cow island is a sprawiling 519 acres. Guernsey Island is located off the tip of Moultonborough's bridged Long Island. Between the tip of Long Island and Cow Island is Ragged Island, which is in conservation and is also a protected Loon Sanctuary.
Part of Cow Island's beauty is that one half of Cow Island remains one of the least developed part s of Lake Winnipesaukee. Ragged Island has has been preserved by the Audubon Society. The "Idlewild" side of Guernsey Island, was originally the home of the oldest summer camp in the country, Camp Idlewild. The waterfront owners in the Idlewild Association have common interest in 40 acres of fields, trails, as well as sandy beaches and stables. There is a year round care taker. Similar to Squam Lake, the homes in the Idlewild Association tend to blend in with the natural scenery.
Having grown up on Lake Winnipesaukee, playing in the woods along Lake Winnipesaukee's shores, are some of my earliest memories. As a Lakes Region NH Realtor, I am also fortunate to watch other families discover the Lakes Region and to watch their children's adventures.
Lake Winnipesaukee, originally Lake "Winnipisseogee" comes from the Native American name, meaning "Smile of the Great Spirit." A tourist destination for more than a century, the Lake Winnipesaukee region is indeed rich in history and spirit. Lake Winnipesaukee is the site of the first-ever, inter-collegiate sporting event (the Harvard-Yale regatta in 1852) and is home of the unexplained “Mystery Stone from Lake Winnipesaukee,” an out-of-place artifact discovered in 1872. More recently Lake Winnipesaukee sports a lively four-season community within easy driving distance of Boston (100 miles), Portland (65 miles), and New York (300 miles).
At approximately 21 miles long, Lake Winnipesaukee is the largest lake in New Hampshire, and the third largest lake in New England. I’m happy to list many beautiful waterfront properties on this lake.
